hey,

just wanted to tell you all: if you can take some workshops with Leyla Jouvana: GO!!

i just came home from two days of workshops (8 hours) in duisburg with her, and i'm really really enthusiastic.

- i dont think i ever made this many notes ever
- i learned a lot, both as a "teacher" (the workshops where part of a teacher training program she is starting) and a student.

her knowledge of rhytms, explaining them, plus teaching you how to dance to what, is great! we did some work on making choreography, and it was great to get an insight in how somebody else does it, and today was a workshop in technique which was also very very good (geometrical patterns).

so, for all those who seem to think her 1001 shimmies is all there is to her, they are very very wrong. if you can take workshops with her in gypsy, rumba, veil, rhytms, technique, etc etc, those are at least as good!

it's been a long while since i felt i had a teacher. i've been teacherless for years now. yes i take dozens of workshops, and i found a new hero and source of inspiration in Aziza (waves), but well, we only get her over here (next week next week!!!!!) a few times per year, but Leyla is no more than three hours away from me, so i get to go regularly, and will benefit from someone that can teach me on a regular basis. i'm going again in april and in may.

whaa, i needed that, am flowing with inspiration, for teaching and performing
